No. A chimney sweep cleans the heating system and checks its condition. An expert assessment evaluates whether the heating appliance, chimney and connecting flue comply with fire safety requirements. It is prepared by a specialist with the relevant professional qualification (master stove-builder, master chimney sweep or fire safety expert).
Does an old stove need an expert assessment?
Mainly when the information needed to assess the safety of the heating system is missing and the Rescue Board or local authority requires an assessment, when an insurer asks for one, or when there are doubts about safety.
