Frequently asked questions
Does a detached house need a fire safety audit?
It is more often needed for apartment, commercial and public buildings. For a detached house it may be required when fire safety cannot be proven in any other way — for example, when the fire separation distance between buildings is smaller than required and the fire barrier solution has not been documented. Your project manager will clarify this for your building.
Does the Rescue Board have to approve the audit?
For buildings subject to fire safety requirements, the local authority coordinates the occupancy permit with the Rescue Board. The audit is one of the documents on which the Rescue Board bases its assessment of whether the building meets fire safety requirements.
